Account & data
Delete your SocialSession account.
Deleting your account is permanent, it is free, and you can do it yourself at any time without asking us. This page explains exactly how, exactly what goes, and how long it takes.
Delete it in the app — the fastest way
- Open SocialSession and sign in.
- Tap the Me tab (the last tab, "My Profile").
- Open the Account & notifications section.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Permanently delete account.
- Confirm when the app asks. If it has been a while since you signed in, you will be asked to sign in again first.
Me → Account & notifications → Permanently delete account
The recent-sign-in step is deliberate: it stops anyone else deleting your account from an unlocked phone. Once you confirm, deletion starts immediately and cannot be undone. We cannot restore a deleted account, and we cannot recover its content for you afterwards.
Want a copy first? Export your data before you delete, from Me → Account & notifications → Export my account data. Once the account is gone, the export is no longer available.
If you no longer have the app
Email info@socialsessionapp.com with the subject "Delete my account", from the email address on your SocialSession account.
- Tell us the account email address. That is all we need.
- We will verify that you control the address before deleting anything, so we may reply once to confirm.
- Do not send your password, a recovery link, or any identity document. We will never ask for them.
- You can also simply reinstall the app, sign in, and use the in-app path above — it is faster.
What gets deleted
Deleting your account removes, permanently:
- your sign-in — the account itself and its credentials at our identity provider;
- your profile — display name, headline, pronouns, general area, interests, languages, accessibility preferences, biography and prompts, and every visibility setting;
- your profile photo, deleted from photo storage as well as from the database, along with its review history;
- your meetups — everything you hosted, and your membership, join requests, invitations and attendance records in everyone else's;
- your chat messages in meetup conversations;
- your private feedback and endorsements, given and received;
- your Nearby presence, immediately;
- your blocks, in both directions;
- the reports you filed and their appeal records;
- your notification settings, push tokens and device registrations, so the app can no longer reach your phone;
- your signed-in device sessions, which are all ended;
- your product feedback and any legacy records still attached to the account;
- the data cached on your device, which is cleared as part of the same action.
What may remain, and why
Two narrow categories survive deletion, and only because they have to:
- De-identified safety and security records. Where a safety or moderation decision was made, or where a security event was logged, a minimised record may be kept for safety, fraud prevention, disputes, or legal obligations ([MODERATION RETENTION]). Authentication audit rows have their account and session identifiers cleared before the account row is deleted, so they no longer point at you.
- Encrypted provider backups. Deleted rows can persist in our providers' routine encrypted backups until those backups expire ([BACKUP WINDOW]). They are not restored into the live service.
See the Privacy Policy for the full retention picture.
How long it takes
| When | What happens |
|---|---|
| Immediately | Your Nearby presence disappears, your device sessions end, you are signed out, and your local app data is cleared. |
| Within moments | Your photo is deleted from storage, your sign-in is deleted at the identity provider, and your account record is deleted from the database in a single transaction — which cascades to your profile, meetups, chat, feedback, endorsements, blocks, reports and notification records. |
| Until backups expire | Encrypted provider backups age out on their normal schedule ([BACKUP WINDOW]). |
If any step cannot complete — for example if photo storage is briefly unavailable — the app tells you and nothing is half-deleted. Try again, or email info@socialsessionapp.com.
Alternatives to deleting
If the problem is a person rather than the app, you may not need to leave:
- Block them. Blocking is immediate and mutual across discovery, meetups, chat and notifications.
- Report them. Nearby → Safety → Safety Center, or the Report control on their profile, roster row or message.
- Turn Nearby off so you stop appearing to anyone.
- Turn off notifications by category under Me → Account & notifications.
- Sign out and keep the account. Nothing is deleted, and you can come back.
Deleting the app is not deleting your account
Removing SocialSession from your phone leaves your account, profile and listings in place and other members can still see them. Use the in-app deletion path, or the email fallback above.
